The racehorse wins the rider and runs along the highway before burning the barn drama

A racehorse threw its rider and then raced down a highway in Kentucky for 30 minutes – hours before getting embroiled in another drama when the stable he was recovering from caught fire.

Bold and Bossy, a two-year-old filly, threw jockey Miguel Mena at Henderson’s Ellis Park on Saturday, then crossed an embankment and headed for US 41. The horse raced along the highway through traffic. for half an hour, with racing instructors and staff, and law enforcement, in pursuit.

Owner Michael Ann Ewing said that because the horse wore blinders, he could only see ahead and kept running.

Told a Washington Post: “Only by the grace of God, she was not hit. Thank God she wasn’t hurt or caused someone else’s serious injury or death. “

Bold and Bossy suffered from dehydration, cramps and cuts while hunting, but were given up to 30 liters of fluids and sedated by a vet who joined the hunt.

However, the dramatic horse weekend wasn’t over. He was taken to the Ellis Park barn to recover, only to burn the barn at 5am on Sunday morning.

The horse, along with six other horses, was saved from the fire. However, Bold and Bossy had burns on their neck and withers – the ridge between the shoulder blades – according to its owner. She was treated at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

“They’re evaluating her lungs and putting in more fluid and evaluating the burns. It’s really hard to say how bad they will be. You could see dimples under the cream, ”said Mr. Ewing The Washington Post.

Mr. Ewing said the overall journey left Bold and Bossy calm, saying she’s most likely exhausted from the ride down the highway and the fire.

He said the horse will recover for a few days. After that, his team will evaluate the next steps.
